It helps to make a reservation. Especially if you have a preferred dining area in mind as there are quite a few to chose from.
Awesome atmosphere and Rachel was one of the funniest servers we have ever had!
Great atmosphere!! Food was almost perfect and although it was good it could gave been better.
Perfect food and drinks , good service , food hot and fresh
I was very excited to try Hopkins on my recent trip down to Moose Jaw. While the service staff were friendly and funny, the decor and food left a tremendous amount to be desired. The restaurant building is a landmark, built in 1905, but the decorations, wall prints, and personal photography makes it look tacky and cluttered. The "oddities shoppe" was tourist kitsch and very unbecoming in such a historical place. My order sat under a heat lamp long enough that each item had the texture of overcooked and rubbery chicken and paying $38 for the plate was disappointing.I hope they can refresh the restaurant and bring it to the level it should be to honour the location.
Delicious food and excellent service in a beautiful Moose Jaw heritage home.
Great food, great service. Jeremy was an amazing server and very knowledgeable. Will definatly be back.
Interesting restaurant with stories and history. Prime rib with Yorkshire pudding was quite good. Suited to smaller parties <5.
Been there once 8 years ago. Loved the food and service. Definitely need to go there again.
Hopkins dining parlour is the best place to be when having a birthday party or just having a romantic dinner with your loved on. I am very glad I was told about the place there are great stories and some amazing history behind the house's existence and past. I advise anyone and everyone to go and have a bite to eat
Excellent service and food!!! Unique atmosphere. We had a 10th Weddding anniversary we will never forget thanks to the great staff at Hopkins!
We only had entrees because everything was so expensive & even those were gross. The lobster was chewy, French onion soup too salty & the spinach dip was watery as heck. The house itself & its history is very interesting though.
Friendly people, hard to find parking place sometime
Place was cold, nice atmosphere but food was aaaawful my god.. i couldve cooked better fettuccini at home, save your money not worth it 🙁
Dined here for our anniversary, sat in a cozy spot and throughly enjoyed the food. Waitresses were polite and friendly!
We have returned for a family birthday supper for years. Delicious food and cocktails. Affordable. Call for a reservation so you won’t be disappointed.
Lovely quaint restaurant. Service was good. The wait staff are very accommodating and are happy to answer questions about the ghost. The price of food is on the higher side, but that didn't match the quality. Artificial bacon bits, croutons seemed store bought, potatoes overcooked and the veg, while tasty, a bit undercooked.
Always great food and service
Not worth itWent there for the first time on Friday for the mideval feast. We made the trip for a weekend get away and figured the mid evil feast would be fun. This is a beautiful old house, but we were extremely disappointed in the food. Almost everything was overcooked and extremely greasy, and the price wasted too high for a low quality meal.I get the fun factor of no cutlery but using coffee filters for plates,? Seriously!!!!Definitely will not go back there
Bad service from hostess and server, poor quality of entree ingredients compaired to price though portions were massive. Soup of the day (beef vegetable) was the best part, worst and in my opinion inedible part was the (cookies and cream cake) dessert. The history of the house is neat but would not recommend this restaurant to friends and family.
Excellent food
Moose Jaw used to be our family meeting place. Our last experience at this dining place was terrible. We waited to be greeted and seated for almost 10 minutes. The waitress was miserable and made it clear we were imposing by coming in for lunch. She said she was busy but would seat us anyway....there were 2 other tables with 2 patrons at each table... She then had us sit for 15 minutes before rudely taking our order. Another 20 minutes before our disgusting food and non refilled water and coffee arrived. Meanwhile the entire time the bus boy made multiple trips behind my chair bumping me and causing my 7.5 month baby bump to hit the table. We considered dine and dash as the waitress wouldn't bring us our cheque and we waited another 15 at the till to pay. Tried seeing if we could look upstairs and was threatened to not go up there. This experience has made us decide to not return to moose jaw.
Found this quaint little place on a recent visit to Moose Jaw. Had no idea about the history of it, etc. Was just walking around a felt compelled to stop in. (Maybe the ghosts helped?)The decor is quite charming, and I love how the entire house is used. I wish I'd found this place earlier in my trip; I'd have had several meals there! The service was good, and the food was ... well ... the best dang meal I've had in a long time! That is not hyperbole! I absolutely LOVED the meal. My dining partner said exactly the same thing about her meal. Exceptional flavour, perfectly cooked, and served hot. We still rave about it today, a month later. Would definitely go there again. (Sadly, I live in another province. GAH!!!)Keep up the great work ... and NEVER let go of your kitchen staff!
Always have a great time there. The food is awesome & the staff are always so amazing
It was a nice experience, but not grand. The food wasn't nearly as good as I remembered from nine years ago, and certainly not worth the price being asked. My appetizer was amazing, the entree was good, but nothing to write home about. There are other places in town with better food at the same price. But it has a very unique and lovely atmosphere which deserves a star.
The food was cooked perfectly but the pop was flat. Probably just an issue with the machine but our waitress didn't charge for it. The staff was friendly and took great care of us.
This was our first time dining here and it did not disappoint! My sons fork somehow ended up at the table beside us, one of our napkins disappeared completely and when using the washroom the toilet beside me flushed on its own. I was the only one in there so the haunting spirit was definitely near by. Our waitress was great and even told us a story about her own ghostly experience in the house which was pretty cool. After we placed our order, she told us we were free to roam about the house and explore on our own which was pretty cool. The house really gave me a weird feeling, but in a good way. Aside from the haunting experiences the food was delicious. The homemade burger i had was the best Ive had in a long time! I want to go back now!
This is usually superb eating. Must be training a new cook, because the wings and potatoes skins were over done.Thank you to the hostess for the 20% discount.
We waited 15-20 mins before someone even noticed we were still waiting on drinks after the sever took our drink order we waited another 10 mins before getting our drinks, my boyfriend ordered a prime rib which came out alone and I waited 5 mins for NACHOS. When I got the nachos I asked for no tomatoes no onions and no olives but when I was presented what I ordered their was noooo meat and barley any cheee was on the nachos instead it was all over the outside of the plate. I’m soo disappointed with Hopkins service and cooking skills a place that used to be my fave is a place I no longer want to come to.
Good and frendly
The food was very reasonably priced and very flavourful. The staff was very friendly and punctual. Would definitely return.
Good food and service.
We decided to take in supper here. The restaurant offers a lot of character, the building is classified as a historic site. The place wasn’t really full, but the staff seemed like they had their hands full. The steak I had was done to perfection and the food was excellent. It had a really warm and cozy feeling about it, it was a cold winters night outside with blowing snow and we were very warm inside. The desert was delicious.
Very cozy and pretty interior, plus amazing food!
This place is amazing. The atmosphere the food the history the service. If you're in Moose Jaw it's a must visit!
Visiting family for Thanksgiving weekend. We decided to go out for dinner and the experience terrible. The waiter struggled trying to explain medieval night to us so we decided to order from the menu. When the food arrived he passed a hot plate to a 9 year old to grab expecting him to be ok to handle his entree. Unacceptable. Our sons chicken fingers and fries were over done and the fries were sour and salty?!My wife and I shared two appetizers but had to ask for side plates. Potato skins were over cooked and tasted powdery. The buffalo wings had a creamy light pink sauce that did not have a nice after taste. The waiter did not check on us to ask how our meal was and when I asked for ketchup he brought us a bottle never opened before. We had to get the waiters attention for water and a refill.Definitely a dinning experience we won’t forget but not in a positive way.
The steaks were overcooked and we had them bring a new order and it was undercooked. Actually very rare. As we waited another 1/2 he would the fries were cold. Had to wait for that order. Obviously their head cook was not on his game. We also had to pay full price for this poor dining experience. Not giving anyone a good review on this restaurant. We do like the decor but would not recommend this place.
We came here tonight for our anniversary dinner because this was where our wedding supper was. Amazing food. It's the best we ever had. Our waitress was so charming and professional. Definitely coming back and telling others about Hopkins
Was very awesome Experience. The Service A++, Really fun time exploring this Mansion and our server was friendly and had many stories to tell. Food quality was Excellent!!
Beautiful building and decor. Mediocre service and sub par food for such a lovely place
A menu that doesn't seem to have changed since the 90s (except for the high prices), over-sized portions, slow service and a terrible drinks list. The building is historic, but cluttered and has a bizarre upstairs 80s(?) room.Go for the kitsch, not the food.
It looks attractive when you passing by, but if you do a closer look it does not cost this money. Sorry. The Irish coffee was good as well as service but the food is not as it should be in a Restaurant, tasteless with no stile, you definitely can cook better at home. lamps on the table are so dirty... Also, you have to ask for napkins all the time, they probably cost a kingdom. Such a nice historical building... it needs a better owner and a better chef.
One of my worst dining experiences ever! Horrendous service! I'd tell you about the food, but we left after half an hour because we didn't even have menus or told the specials by then so I have no idea what the food is like. Trust me, your money is better spent elsewhere!!!
The food was phenomenal, but the atmosphere is just okay. We went for our anniversary and were there for 3 hours which included dessert. It's either very loud, or very quiet. It's easy to overhear other's conversations, even if they are across the room. The layout is that of an old farm house style, with several different seating areas. In order to accommodate the seating, some tables are quite small. Our meals barely fit on the table and as such were not provided with the additional plate for our crab legs that is customary in most establishments. Our waitress was nice, but not very good. She apologized frequently but made little effort to make up for her shortcomings. We were in a loving mood, so our night wasn't spoiled as we enjoyed each other's company but I can imagine not everyone would have similar feelings.
Fantastic service. Wonderful food and atmosphere.
It was great. Went there for a high tea. Had a great time
Amazing Seafood Platter on special. Delicious and huge slsb of Prime Rib. Cheyenne was great, very patient and accommadating. Probably best on an off night but good food and looks like a nice spot a fun date.
Highly priced. Services not very good. Real disappointment.
This place was great. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. It was cool to be able to take a walk around and check out the house. As for the food it was phenomenal. It's hard to choose off the menu because everything looks so good. The history of the place really adds to the dining experience. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great meal and experience.
